What is LMIA?
If an Employer is having difficulty hiring the right candidate and wishes to hire a foreign worker, they must obtain an LMIA proving their efforts to hire locally. A lot of employers are looking for talents outside Canada as a result of high demands in certain occupations. There are some requirements for obtaining it.
Minimum Advertisement
Requirements
The job position must be advertised for at least one month on three different platforms in a genuine effort of finding workers.
Prove the Need of
the Position
The employer must explain why this position they are looking to be filled is crucial for the operation of their business.
No Negative
Impact
The employer must also prove that there will not be any negative impacts in the event of hiring the foreign worker, instead, it's positive.
Worker must be
Qualified
The foreign worker they are looking to hire must be qualified enough to do the job. The skills and experience must be provided as proof.
